The famous island of Elafonisi is one of the must-visit attractions in Chania. It is a unique natural phenomenon, as it is both an island and not quite an island. Located very close to the shore at the southwestern edge of the region, it is just 100 meters from the bay of Chrysoskalitissa. You can easily reach it on foot, as the waters are very shallow.
