About Macedonia

Macedonia is a geographical and historical region of Greece with a very rich history that is lost in the depths of centuries. It has to show unique natural beauties and important archaeological sites and historical monuments that testify to the great civilization that flourished in the land of the Macedonians during ancient times, but also to their valuable contribution to the events of the history of Greece in all periods. Macedonia is one of the geographical regions of mainland Greece. It is the southern and largest part of the wider geographical and historical region of Macedonia. It is located between the Pindos mountain range and the Nestos River and is the northern geographical and historical region, the second largest in population and the largest in area of ​​the Greek territory. It borders Skopje (FYROM) and Bulgaria to the north, Thessaly and the Aegean Sea to the south, Western Thrace to the east and Epirus and Albania to the west. More specifically, Macedonia is divided into the region of Central Macedonia, which consists of the prefectures of Thessaloniki, Halkidiki, Pella, Imathia, Pieria, Serres and Kilkis.
