Ano Viannos is a beautiful, picturesque village built at the foothills of Mount Dikti. The area has been continuously inhabited since ancient times. In fact, the ruins of a Minoan settlement have been excavated on the site of the present village. Remarkably, human skeletons were found inside the storage jars uncovered during the excavations. In the area, you can also see the notable Byzantine churches of Agios Georgios and Agia Pelagia. Additionally, you can visit the impressive Vigla Cave, adorned with rich stalactite and stalagmite formations.
