About Arnitha

Arnitha is a picturesque small village hidden among the hills, located on the left along the route from Gennadi to Apolakkia. It retains the characteristics of a traditional small Dodecanese village, with its small white houses, and is officially designated as a traditional settlement. At the entrance of the village, visitors are welcomed by the Kato Vrisi, a cool and refreshing greeting. At the end of the village, ascending towards the mountain, lies the small church of Agios Nikonos (13th century). From there, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the sea as well as the surrounding mountainous landscape, stretching towards Mesanagros and the Monastery of Skiadeni. An interesting hiking route leads from Arnitha to Apolakkia, through the mountains to the Monastery of Agioi Theodoroi (20th century) at the location of Katakalos. Natural Environment - The landscape surrounding Arnitha features vegetation typical of the region, including conifers, olive trees, and other fruit-bearing trees, along with agricultural fields. A visit to the area of Fountana - Vodi, with its waterfalls and conifer forests, as well as the gorge at KleiĀsoura, is highly recommended.
