About Karditsa
Karditsa is the smallest prefecture of Thessaly, situated at the southwest part of the periphery. 49% of the prefecture is lowland, 42% mountainous, while the rest 9% is semi-mountainous.
Southwest of the prefecture are the mountain chains of Pindos and Agrafa with dense vegetation, fir trees, oaks, planes and plenty of water.
Northeastwards is the Thessalic plain with fertile valleys and long tempestuous history. This contrast offers alternative entertainment suggestions to all visitors.
Capital of the prefecture is Karditsa, in the west end of the Thesalic plain. The city is built right next to Pinios tributary, 10 km from the foothills of Pindos mountain.
