About Vrisa
It is located in the southern part of the island, 51 km from the town of Mytilene. The history of the village dates back to ancient times. The ancient city is believed to have been southwest of the present village, where the Chapel of Agia Aikaterini stands today. It is a picturesque village with stone houses, a beautiful square, traditional cafés, and a rich local tradition. The village¢s attractions include the Natural History Museum Collection, which houses paleontological finds, rocks, and stuffed animals; the Folklore Museum; and the Byzantine monument of a basilica dedicated to Zoodochos Pigi, featuring a priceless carved wooden iconostasis. The area¢s port is Vatera Beach, one of the most popular tourist resorts of Lesvos.
