Neapoli is a beautiful coastal town in the Laconia region, located 132 km from Sparta. Administratively, it belongs to the municipality of Voies and represents the southeastern tip of the region and of the Peloponnese in general. A distinctive feature of Neapoli is that it is the southernmost town of mainland Greece and is relatively young in age. According to historical sources, it began to be built in 1837 by the Bavarian architect Birbach, who also designed the urban plans of Sparta and Karystos. The town is built on the site of the ancient city of the Voies, which is why Neapoli is also referred to as Vatika. Today, the small settlement of Paradeisi is also part of Neapoli. Its port provides connections to the islands of Elafonisos and Kythera.
