About Larisa

The prefecture of Larissa covers the northeastern part of Thessaly. It is the largest prefecture in Greece. It has unique beauties and is suitable for holidays throughout the year as the entire prefecture is open for sightseeing. Getting to know the Thessalian plain, the legendary river Pinios, the valley of Tempi, Olympus, the highest mountain in Greece, the Aegean Sea and the important sights of the prefecture will fill you with amazing images. The prefecture of Larissa consists of the provinces of Agia. Elassona, Tyrnavos, Farsala and Larissa, which is also the capital of the prefecture. It borders the prefectures of Pieria and Kozani to the north, the prefectures of Grevena, Trikala and Karditsa to the west, the prefectures of Fthiotida and Magnesia to the south and the Aegean Sea to the east. The territory of the prefecture is divided into plains by 48%, semi-mountainous by 25% and mountainous by 27%.
